Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2026

The short version

  • We don’t set tracking cookies and we don’t sell or share your information for advertising.
  • The only information we collect directly is what you choose to send us through the contact form or by booking a call.
  • We use a privacy-focused, anonymous analytics service to understand which pages are read — no personal data, no cross-site tracking.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any information you’ve sent us at any time.

1. Who we are

Motion Narrative (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a documentary video production studio based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, operating at motionnarrative.ca. This policy describes how we handle information collected through this website. For any privacy-related question, please email kevin@narrativemotion.net.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

When you submit our contact form, you provide:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your organization (optional)
  • The type of project you’re interested in (optional)
  • The message you write to us

We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not add you to any marketing list. If you click the “Book a 30-min call” button, you are taken to Calendly, where any information you enter is collected by Calendly under their privacy policy.

2.2 Information collected automatically

We use Umami Cloud Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool. Umami collects anonymous, aggregated information such as:

  • Which pages were viewed and in what order
  • The website or search engine that referred you to us
  • General device type, browser, operating system, and screen size
  • Country and region (derived from your IP address, which Umami hashes and discards — we never see or store the IP)
  • Anonymous interaction events such as clicks on key buttons or form submissions (we track that a submission happened, not what you wrote in it)

This data is not linked to any individual, is not used for advertising, and is not shared with third parties beyond Umami itself.

2.3 Server logs

Our website is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard server request data (IP address, user-agent, timestamp) for short periods to operate the site, prevent abuse, and ensure availability. We do not access these logs to track individuals.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not set tracking cookies. Our analytics provider is cookieless by design.

The only third party that may set cookies in your browser through this site is Vimeo, which we use to embed video. We load Vimeo videos in “do-not-track” mode, which disables Vimeo’s audience analytics. Vimeo may still set a small number of essential cookies when you play a video. Their use of cookies is governed by Vimeo’s privacy policy.

4. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to your message or schedule a consultation
  • Understand which pages are useful and improve the site accordingly
  • Operate, maintain, and secure the website
  • Meet legal obligations if they apply

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not use your information for advertising or profiling.

5. Third-party services we rely on

To run this website and respond to inquiries, we rely on a small number of trusted service providers. Each handles your data only for the purpose described below, under its own privacy policy.

  • Resend— delivers contact form submissions to our email inbox. Privacy policy.
  • Calendly— powers consultation bookings when you click the “Book a 30-min call” button. Privacy policy.
  • Umami Cloud— collects anonymous, cookieless usage statistics. Privacy policy.
  • Vercel — hosts and serves the website. Privacy policy.
  • Vimeo— hosts and streams the embedded videos you see on the site. Privacy policy.
  • Google Workspace— receives and stores the email notifications generated by your contact form submission, since our inbox is hosted by Google. Privacy policy.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep contact form submissions in our email inbox for as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the conversation. You can ask us to delete any message you’ve sent us at any time (see Section 7).

Anonymous analytics data is retained by Umami according to their retention policy. Server logs are kept by Vercel for short operational periods.

7. Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and similar laws in other regions, you have the right to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct it if it’s inaccurate
  • Ask us to delete it
  • Withdraw consent for us to use it going forward

To make a request, email kevin@narrativemotion.net. We’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe and without charge.

8. Children

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

9. International data transfers

Some of the service providers above (Resend, Calendly, Umami, Vercel, Vimeo, Google) are based in the United States or process data through servers outside Canada. By submitting information to us, you understand it may be processed in those countries under their data protection laws.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our services or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be described on this page.
