The Challenge
How do you translate institutional history into something a broad audience will sit with?
From Wall Street to Bay Street explored the evolution of the Canadian and American financial systems — a subject shaped by complex economic history, institutional policy, and financial regulation.
The project required translating sophisticated financial and political concepts into a documentary series that would remain accessible, engaging, and relevant to a broad public audience — without flattening the depth of the subject matter or losing the perspective of the leaders who lived through it.

02
The Approach
Research-driven documentary. Thoughtful interviews. A clear narrative spine.
Motion Narrative directed and produced the series using a research-driven documentary approach focused on thoughtful interviews, historical context, and clear narrative structure.
Distributed nationally across the United States through PBS, the series featured conversations with senior executives, policymakers, academics, and financial leaders — helping transform complex institutional subjects into engaging long-form storytelling.

The Impact
The same craft now informs our healthcare work.
The documentary demonstrated Motion Narrative's ability to handle sophisticated subject matter with clarity, preparation, and documentary-level storytelling.
The same approach — combining research, thoughtful interviewing, and accessible communication — now informs Motion Narrative's healthcare storytelling and institutional communication work across Ontario. Whether the subject is monetary policy or a Family Health Team's care model, the discipline is the same: do the research, treat the contributors with care, find the human spine of the story, and let the audience meet it on their own terms.
Testimonial
This documentary is a terrific piece of educational work. It should be essential viewing in university business courses.
